Commissioner

Tyler O. Gum, Director, Pennsylvania Military Museum

Assignment

This commissioned assignment provides students with the unique opportunity of producing academic-quality blog and journal articles featuring military history of the Commonwealth, published to the Museum’s website and sent to members of the Museum.  Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage, the 70th Anniversary of the Korean War, and/or the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, students will have the ability to highlight personal stories from these monumental periods.  Two possibilities exist for such work:

  1. Contribute blog posts to the Museum’s efforts of digitally engaging with visitors.
  2. Contribute a larger, more developed piece of research for publishing via the Museum’s blog and newsletter to members of the Museum.

Topic areas are as outlined above, all requiring a clearly identified connection to Commonwealth of PA military history.  Student(s) will work directly with the Museum Director in selecting topics for blog posts and or in developing the academic and publishing direction of a larger more developed piece of research.
