Assignment

This commissioned assignment asks students to consider how visual art impacts sociocultural realms and has rhetorical effects. More specifically, this project asks students to engage critically with contemporary art exhibits on display at the HUB-Robeson Galleries. Possibilities for this work include but are not limited to:

  1. Write narrative, analytical, or other reflective essays that detail the student’s personal encounter with contemporary art exhibitions or contemporary art projects that were led by the HUB-Robeson Galleries. These written elements may bused as content on the HUB-Robeson Galleries’ website and social platforms
  2. Research the rhetorical and social work of contemporary art and visit HUBRobeson Galleries projects virtually or in person to compose infographics for fellow Penn State students to explain contemporary art experiences. This research project would entail critically engaging with visual rhetoric and then producing rhetorically effective visual work to educate students about why art experiences matters in contemporary contexts. These infographics would be used by the HUB-Robeson Galleries on their social media platforms to engage students.
